It givesme great joy as St. John’s English High School completes 25 years. The school has been on tremendous journey, seeing God’s faithfulness demonstrated again and again in so many ways. We are so thankful that with God’s help we have become one of the leading High School Educational Institutions in Bishnupur District, Manipur. We have always sought to provide quality education at an affordable fee in order to serve our community. Our vision is expressed in our mission statement: to provide a safe, loving environment for children, staff and families to grow towards fruitfulness in every area of life. This means we work to develop every child to their best of their abilities, helping them grow in character and wisdom along with academic excellence. By God’s grace, from our first row of classrooms in 1993 we have grown to a large family of staff and students working together towards these goals. As we complete 25 years o service, two beautiful verses from the Bible come to mind. “I know the plan I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give hope and a future” (Jer 29:11) and “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Prov 22:6). These verses express our belief in God’s love and plans for the children in our school. We live in a world which is growing faster than ever before. Educating young minds for the future is very important because education is one of the most powerful forces that can change the world. Learning is not limited to educational institutions; we are all learning at every point in life, and educating oneself is a lifelong process. Aristotle once said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all. “School, then, is not just a place to gain knowledge, it should also the place where children learn to live peacefully with others and make wise choices for the future. Providing that environment to prepare our children to live productive, fulfilling lives. Our school has always aimed to nourish both the mind and the soul of students by providing a wide range of extra-curricular activities. The goal of a well-balanced curriculum is to ensure that the children who walk into our school will not just love their school but truly be prepared to face life’s challenges. Providing this kind of experience for children does not happen simply because there is a building of mortar and bricks. The importance of our dedicated teaching and supporting staff cannot be underestimated. Their contribution to the St. John’s community has been immense, and for this, we are all grateful. Finally, the editorial team must be congratulated for bringing out a wonderful Jubilee Souvenir, telling the story of St. John’s English High School with creativity and excellence.
